The agenda for the CS Village Board meeting on June 8th, 7pm will include discussion about the Highland Valley Development with Ozzie Albra of Fishkill. I don't know Ozzie, but I've seen his blog on Fishkill Town Board meetings, and am eager to hear what he has to say about this project.

I understand that Peter Rostenberg, who is an expert on the aquifer and part of the Fishkill Ridge Caretakers, NY Highlands Committee, Highlands Steering Committee will also speak at this meeting.

I have been worried about the Highland Valley development as it could affect Haldane enrollment, (and our property taxes!) but there are serious water quality concerns that we face with this project, too. In spite of what Walloon Trust would like you to believe, the Clove Creek aquifer, reportedly the best drinking water and an important supply for Fishkill, would be in jeopardy of contamination from this development.

Discussion at tonight's Cold Spring Village meeting brought up something that we can all do:

Please contact your local NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and request that they ask to serve as lead agent in the Highland Valley Development project. If the Town of Fishkill is the lead agent, they will not worry about water quality of the Clove Creek and aquifer.

....and in addition to contacting the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, we can attend the next FISHKILL TOWN BOARD MEETING.

JUNE 19th - 10 AM @ CAMP FOSTER of Castle Point Road in Wappinger - off Route 9D.

According to the Fishkill residents in attendance at the CS Village Board Meeting tonight, there is strength in numbers and media attention.

There will be no opportunity (or invitation) to address the Fishkill Town Supervisor, however, SIGNS can and should be brought.

See you there!
