The Highland Valley development, a proposal of 210 manufactured homes on the west side of Route 9 on Montfort’s Southern Dutchess Sand and Gravel Mine, is an ecological and economic threat to the community. Fishkill's Town Board has moved this project along quickly and quietly, and urgent attention is needed from community members to slow it down. This project jeopardizes the water quality of Clove Creek and its underlying aquifer, which supplies water to many communities in addition to Philipstown, including Beacon, the Town and Village of Fishkill, East Fishkill and Wappingers Falls. Damage to this precious resource will not be easily undone, and your participation is extremely important. Updates will be posted here on a regular basis.
