Fishkill Development Project Could Drastically Increase Haldane's Population.
At this week's Haldane Board of Education meeting, we learned that a developer in Fishkill is seeking approval from the Fishkill Town Planning Board to build a 210-unit manufactured housing project.
THE PROJECT WOULD BE WITHIN THE HALDANE SCHOOL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES, and therefore, Haldane would bear the full financial cost of educating children living in the development.
Estimates for enrollment range from 24 to 141 new students!
According to the developer's impact study, the MINIMUM effect on Haldane's budge would be over $200,000, but that estimate is based on the lower end of enrollment projections.
We are all aware of the existing space issues at Haldane. We would have to float a bond to build additional classrooms.
Can Philipstown residents and property owners bear the cost of this increased tax liability?
This project, while in line with Fishkill's recent hyper-growth patterns, far exceeds any single housing development ever built in Philipstown. No information about this project was furnished to either the Town Board or the School Board, and no advice was sought, yet the impact for our small district will be monumental.
Please learn what you can about this project and let Fishkill's Town Board and our local officials know where you stand.
