“The tax cap presents many challenges to school districts as a result of the supermajority required to pass a budget above the cap. In addition, a failed budget results in a 0% increase in the tax levy which would be disastrous," explained Dr. Villanti. He went on to say that in the discussion of the tax cap what is being lost is the realization that for the second year a in a row school district revenues from New York State have been cut through a Gap Elimination Adjustment. Staying under the tax cap for this upcoming budget year is not as problematic as the continued loss of state revenues.

“The Gap Elimination Budget causes for the second year in a row Haldane to lose at least $528,451 in NYS revenues,” remarked Villanti, “And no one is talking about that. All public schools are also losing a proportional amount as well.”

Join the Haldane Drama Department for their production of Guys and Dolls on March 23, 24 & 25th. All the hot gamblers are in town, and they're all depending on Nathan Detroit to set up this week's incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York;" the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place. Throw in Sarah Brown, who's short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1000 bet that he can't get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time; and the music/lyrics of Frank Loesser, and you've got quite a musical! Includes the songs “Fugue for Tinhorns,” "Luck Be a Lady,” and "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" to name a few

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Putnam County Department of Health has asked me to share with you concern about the increased numbers of a gastrointestinal or stomach virus in this area. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, possibly accompanied by a fever.

Since we’ve had quite a few reported cases in all of the schools at Haldane, I wanted to give you a “heads-up”.  The sheet linked below was provided by the PC Department of Health on reducing the risk of gastro-intestinal illness.  I was asked to “strongly advise” students and staff not to return to school for at least 3 days after symptoms of GI illness have subsided.  If you have any questions, please call me at 265-9254, ext 125.

Yours sincerely,
Ann Zgolinski, RN,  School Nurse
