[Growing Haldane] Haldane garden: move mulch this Thursday 5/17!

Postby Robotic Autoposter » Tue May 15, 2012 10:06 pm

Given the rainy weather this week we're moving our mulch day to this
Thursday, May 17, at 3pm after school. Sunny skies and temperatures in
the 70s!!
If you can still make it, please come. We could really use extra hands
to get the woodchip mulch spread around the garden beds to keep weeds
down for the summer.

Thank you,
The Garden Committee

[Growing Haldane] Help move woodchips in the garden Monday!

Spring is in full swing in the Haldane Garden and Jerry Allen from
Philipstown Tree Service has graciously donated woodchips again this
year.
Now we need your help moving the mulch this Monday, May 14. So bring a
shovel, iron rake, and some arm muscle after school at 3pm.
Hope to see you there!

[Growing Haldane] Still looking for volunteers...

Postby Robotic Autoposter » Wed May 02, 2012 5:06 pm

Hi Folks,

We could really use some help at the Health Fair this Friday. Please let me know if you are available to help out at either the garden or farm to school tables from 11:30-2:30. The tables will be next to each other, so the volunteer can float from one to the other as necessary.

This is what we will be doing at each table:

Farm to School: Apple taste testing and tasting raw veggies cut in different, fun ways
Garden: Interactive activity: match the seed to the adult plant

It is very busy at the fair, but it is also fun seeing all the kids go through. They get really excited at our tables. So, if you are not booked with other plans, please come and volunteer. You'll have a good time!

Let me know as soon as you can!
Respond to this email at: sandy@odara.com

Thanks!
Sandy

[Growing Haldane] Urgent: Volunteers needed on May 4th for the Health Fair and Eco Night

Postby Robotic Autoposter » Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:20 pm

Hi Friends,

On Friday, May 4th we will be having our annual Health Fair during the school day and then in the evening we will have Eco Night. Farm to School and the Garden will have tables at these events and we are looking for volunteers to be at the tables and talk about these programs.

At the Health Fair, Farm to School and the Garden will need volunteers from 8:30- 2:30. There will be two shifts: 8:30 to 11:30 and 11:30 to 2:30. It would be great to have two people per shift.

Then, at Eco Night, we will also need two volunteers. The event is from 6-8 pm

One of the things planned for the Farm to School table will be taste tests. We will have samples of local apples and some veggie samples. At the Garden table, we will be planting seeds for our Chef in the Classroom garden bed.

Please let me know as soon as you can if you are available.

 Thanks!
 Sandy

Postby Robotic Autoposter » Sat Apr 07, 2012 1:13 pm

Just a reminder that this week the garden club will meet Tuesday after
school at 3pm to finish mulching the butterfly garden, plant a few
shrubs, and continue weeding along the fence.

Unless the weather is bad, from now on we'll meet every week on
Mondays after school at 3pm.

There's still lots to do in the garden this spring so please join us
if you can!
